November 25 to 27, four gynecologic oncologists from Taiwan and four gynecologists from the mainland attended "The Sixth Dream Mentor Classes" held by department of gynecologic oncology in our hospital. During the three-day academic exchange, the eight experts observed the whole performance of eight laparoscopic surgeries for gynecological cancers by Kaijiang Liu’s team, that included all kinds of complexity and high difficulties which need high levels of skills. They also participated in the discussion of preoperative analysis of each patient's condition, the development of surgical plan, as well as postoperative precautions. The exquisite laparoscopic surgical techniques of Kaijiang Liu’s team and their standard concept of cancer treatment deeply impressed the Taiwan and domestic counterparts.

Previously, department of gynecologic oncology of our hospital had successfully held the "Dream Mentor" Laparoscopic Classes of Gynecologic Oncology for five times, which brought enthusiastic response between colleagues around the country. Each class lasts three days and only receives four students higher than associate physicians. The students can enter the operating rooms to closely observe the whole surgical processes by gynecologic oncology team of our hospital. This time of class even attracted four gynecologic oncology professors far from Taiwan coming here to observe. In this communication, under the tacit cooperation with the operating room and department of anesthesia, Professor Kaijiang Liu’s team continued their usual operation styles of delicate surgical dissection, precise layers and clean surgical screen, to successfully complete eight sets of various laparoscopic gynecologic surgeries. Especially the three cervical cancer surgeries, one deep pelvic endometriosis surgery and one ovarian borderline tumor surgery were highly praised by the visiting experts.

During the demonstration of the operations, Kaijiang Liu conducted extensive exchange with the eight experts according to anatomy, surgical principles of gap surgeries, as well as minimally invasive, humane, standardized and personalized cancer treatments. Four scholars from Taiwan also shared six cases of gynecologic cancer-related cases, and performed a lively exchange and discussion in tumor surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy together with application, indications, contraindications, advantages and disadvantages, and future development of laparoscopy in gynecologic malignancies. In addition, the professionalism of Taiwan doctors, such as dedicated, focused and high levels also impressed medical staff of our hospital and deserved our learning.

This time of class provides many new ideas for promoting the standardization of the treatment of gynecological cancers and related diseases in Shanghai and surrounding areas, and the academic influence also radiates to Taiwan, so that benefits the development of the discipline. We believe that in the future, "The Dream Mentor Classes of Gynecologic Oncology" will be more and more featured, and become an academic brand of our hospital with a profound influence.
