The 6^th Shanghai International Nursing Skill Contest and Shanghai International Nursing Educational Forum were held on November 8^th. Renji Hospital won the first prize again among the hospital subgroup since the first prize in the 1^st contest.

Shanghai International Nursing Skill Contest adopts the standards of the Worldwide Nursing Skill Contest. When taking care of the foreign standard patients, the candidates’ ability of assessment, communication skill, nursing practice, collaboration will be evaluated. Three subgroups were set in the contest, which include Academic Team, Hospital Team, and International Team. After the strict selection, 50 teams shortlisted to the final. The general nursing educator of our hospital, Fenmei Chen, along with two other nurses, Xin Xie and Xionghao Yang, won the first prize among the 22 hospital subgroups due to their excellent job.

During the preparation phase, the two candidates, who are lacking of clinical experience, made marvelous progress. Critical thinking, communication skills, nursing practice skills have been improved with the help of the Chief Nursing Officer, Nursing Managers and Instructor Chen.

In the competition, our candidates performed perfectly because of the systematic training and their extraordinary qualities. They exhibited the fluent English, sincere humanity, accurate clinical decisions, and standard nursing skills, which were highly praised not only by the judges, but also by the foreign standard patients.

This year is the 170th anniversary of Renji Hospital and the 100th anniversary of Renji nursing education. Nurses celebrate this special and meaningful birthday with this championship.
