On June 6^th, after Renji hospital was approved successfully to be the high school social practice base in Shanghai, we officially welcomed our first student volunteers in social practices. 15 student volunteers are from first grade of Shanghai Experimental High School. On every following Saturday, they will complete a total of 12 hours of community service for 4 times in our hospital, including outpatient and emergency medical guide, playing the piano, accompanying the patient diagnosis and other volunteers, which brings convenience and warm for patients who seek treatment at weekends. Considering not delaying learning and voluntary service of high school students, Home of Love volunteer department coordinated. According to the hospital needs, we set voluntary service jobs at Saturday morning, and arrange special personnel to guide students to work on Saturday. The move is praised by high school students, schools and the leaderships of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.

At eight early in the morning, student volunteers have gathered on time at the service center and were ready to begin their first volunteer services. Some helped patients registration, while others provided patients with guiding patient service at a service desk. Two music volunteers used their skills of playing piano for patients and their families to create a cozy atmosphere for medical treatment to relieve their tension. This has become a beautiful landscape in our outpatient hall. It is worth mentioning that when the volunteer named Xiao Gong saw a senior citizen alone inquiring MRI location, he worried that the elderly couldn’t remember the complicated route, so he took the initiative accompanied to radiology and help the elderly to complete the registration formalities. Although it was the first day of these student volunteers, their hospitality and brilliant smile touched a lot of patients, and everyone pointed their thumbs for praises.

It is reported that according to the regulations ‘Ministry of Education on Strengthening and Improving the Overall Quality of High School Students' Evaluation Comments ’and the 2017 Shanghai college entrance examination reform package of new policy ‘Shanghai Comprehensive Quality Evaluation of High School Students (for Trial Implementation)’, the high school social practice should be no less than 90 days, of which volunteer service no less than 60 hours. From high school students enrolling in 2014 should follow the regulations. In order to further enrich the school community practice site resources, and in 2015 Shanghai Municipal Education Commission selected the municipal level social practice base. As Shanghai outstanding volunteer service base, our Home of Love Volunteer Work Department declared that the success of Shanghai High School Students' Social Practice Base. The joining of first fifteen high school student volunteers will inject new vitality into volunteer work, and also reflect that our hospital recognizes its social responsibility in advancing the practice of student civic education platform. At the same time, opening voluntary service on Saturday not only takes the student's schedule into account, but also takes a new step of developing the service volunteers in hospital outpatient and emergency.
