On Nov 17th, under the leadership of Qiang Xia, vice president of Renji Hospital, delegation of Renji hospital went to University Malaya Medical Center for a goodwill visit. The delegation was composed by Jie Zhuang (Director of Admin Office), Bijun Qiu (department of liver surgery), Mingzhu Huang (Matron of Children ward, department of liver surgery) and Qian Gu.

University Malaya Medical Center is one of the most famous medical institutes in Malaysia. On Nov 7th 2014, with the help of the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce, Renji hospital conducted the first living donor liver transplantation for a Malaysia child. From then on, Renji hospital has already accepted another four children from University Malaya Medical Center, and all the children has successfully undergone living donor liver transplantation in Renji. The children were sent back to University Malaya Medical Center for recovery treatment after the postoperative observation period. The delegation visited these five children during the trip. The children and their parents were very happy and excited to see the doctors from Renji Hospital. They expressed their sincere gratitude to Renji hospital. The phenomenon was warm and touched.

Afterwards, doctors from University Malaya Medical Center introduced the recovery of the five children to the Renji delegation. The two sides discussed the problems the Malaya team met in the treatment and modify the subsequent strategies. Besides these five children, Prof. Xia Qiang was invited to make a medical evaluation on a new admitted child who needed liver transplantation. Knowing that the transplantation was appropriate, University Malaya Medical Center would transferred the child to Renji Hospital as soon as the relevant examination was finished. They expressed their gratitude to Renji Hospital for the help. The two sides also reached a preliminary consensus on the future training of doctors and nurses.

Renji Hospital deepened the awareness of the health status of Malaysia through this visit. The visit also strengthen Renji’s cooperation with Malaysia medical institutes and provided an opportunity to promote Renji’s globalization.
