On the morning of November 21, minimally invasive experts of gynecological malignancies from Chengdu, Jinan and Shanghai gathered at three places to carry out three-place relay events of gynecological cancer surgeries for national counterparts. It will be friends to technology, in line with modern operation concepts of "precise", "minimally invasive" and "humane", which attracted many experts to display their techniques. Dean Professor Weiping Li addressed the meeting, vice president Professor Yu Wang and Professor Wenjun Cheng from Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital co-chaired the Shanghai venue and gave surgery reviews.
Director of department of gynecological oncology of our hospital, Kaijiang Liu, this time performed the demonstration of one of the most difficult surgical procedures of laparoscopic gynecologic surgery, which is laparoscopic re-staging surgery of endometrial cancer. The surgery not only requires the surgeon for the laparoscopic pelvic lymphadenectomy, but also requires the para-abdominal aortic lymph node dissection at the renal vascular level. Due to the large extent and high risk of the surgery, most department of gynecology in domestic hospitals cannot implement it through laparoscopic surgery. Professor Kaijiang Liu worked out a suitable surgical technique for gynecologists to perform laparoscopic para-abdominal aortic lymph node dissection on the basis of conventional laparoscopic surgery through changing the puncture holes and postural aspects, applying rich laparoscopic experience together with skillful techniques. In three-hour live broadcast of surgery, Professor Kaijiang Liu continued his usual surgery styles of delicate and accurate to successfully complete the surgery under the cooperation with the operating room, department of anesthesia and the surgical team. This surgery fully reflected the accurate, standardized, bloodless surgery style of Professor Kaijiang Liu. The excellent surgery and breathtaking virtuosity all benefit participants.
In addition, during the operation demonstration, Director Liu always adhered to the concept of "Precision Technology, Tumor-free" and repeatedly stressed that "Only more precise surgeries will be more secure for patients, so as to reflect 'humane' service concept." Director Liu also used his unique sense of humor, witty and wise explanation to introduce one by one to the entire fellow at three venues for the tumor-free principles of the minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery of malignant tumors, according to anatomy, principles of gap surgeries and the minimally invasive, humane, standardization, and other concepts of cancer treatment. His unreserved teaching of experience received praise by colleagues around the country.
It is reported that Director Kaijiang Liu led his team to complete nearly ten thousand cases of all kinds of laparoscopic surgeries in the past 10 years, including more than 4,000 cases of difficult laparoscopic surgeries of malignant tumors, including "surgical staging of endometrial cancers", "comprehensive surgical staging of early ovarian cancers", "preserve fertility radical hysterectomy", "extensive nerve-sparing radical surgery for cervical cancers" and etc. Under his leadership, department of gynecologic oncology of our hospital has reached more than 98% laparoscopic surgery rate of benign tumors, and more than 90% laparoscopic surgery rate of common malignant cancers for gynecological tumors at present, ranking the country’s leading level. The department also closely follows the development trend of international minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries to carry out a variety of new surgical procedures. They strictly carry out comprehensive treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatment of gynecological malignancies in accordance with international norms and guidelines, and achieve good therapeutic effects.
