The forum mainly focused on genitourinary tumors, inviting renowned experts in this field from the Mayo Medical Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center. It discussed doubts and difficulties in the early diagnosis and multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of genitourinary tumors together with domestic colleagues. It also focused on the multidisciplinary therapy (MDT) and the development of individualized comprehensive diagnosis and treatment strategies and other international frontier topics in the field of tumor therapy. The conference was mainly in the form of face-face discussions and exchanges with domestic and foreign experts and fellows, supplemented by lectures and surgical video broadcast. The conference attracted a total of nearly 300 participants from more than fifty units of counterparts in the country, and received praise from both domestic and foreign colleagues.
The forum lasted two days. On the first day, during the surgical observation and communication segment, the organizers displayed 12 surgeries, such as robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and laparoscopic surgery under radical nephrectomy plus vena cava tumor thrombus removal surgery. At the same time of the surgery, the president of the conference Professor Huang Yiran, and the Deputy Director of the Department of Urology Professor Liu Dongming, gave synchronized reviews and explanations. Participant colleagues all said that the Department of Urology of Renji Hospital are among the best in the country not only in scale and degree of information, but also in the amount and technical difficulties of surgery, which is worthy of peer colleagues to learn from.
On the second day, after a brief opening ceremony, the conference entered the academic exchange segment. Thematic exchange forum was divided into three themes, including basic research in prostate cancer, clinical pathology of prostate cancer and clinical diagnosis and treatment of kidney tumor. Experts and scholars, such as Professor Guo Charles from MD Anderson Cancer Center of the United States, and Professor Qin Jun from Baylor College of Medicine of the United States, made wonderful academic speeches respectively. The entire interacting discussions were heated, and the atmosphere was lively. The case conference held afterwards by experts from oncology, pathology and urology analyzed typical cases and difficult cases on the same stage, allowing participants to fully appreciate the advantages of multidisciplinary cooperative mode in diagnosis and treatment of urinary tumors, and put the conference to a climax.
It is known that genitourinary tumors, including a series of clinical common malignant kidney cancer, prostate cancer and bladder cancer. The incidence continues to rise in recent years.
