As a national leader in cardiovascular care, Renji Hospital’s Cardiology Department holds dual accreditation from China’s Ministry of Health (Key Clinical Discipline) and Ministry of Education (211 Key Discipline). It is among China’s first institutions authorized to grant cardiology master’s/doctoral degrees and an ACC (American College of Cardiology)-accredited continuing education center. Recognized as national hubs for cardiovascular specialist training, hypertension education, and multi-disciplinary care (Chest Pain, Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, and Cardiac Rehabilitation Centers), it spans five campuses (East, West, South, Hangzhou Bay, Baoshan) with subspecialty divisions in coronary interventions, electrophysiology, structural heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, and advanced imaging.

Annually managing 250,000+ outpatient visits, 10,000+ inpatient admissions, and 11,000+ procedures, the department combines cutting-edge interventions (PCI, ablation, TAVR) with pioneering research. Its 60+ national-funded projects—including National Key R&D Programs and NSFC grants—have secured over ¥50 million in funding. Recent publications in Circulation, JACC, and European Heart Journal (150+ papers, total IF >1,000; 27 papers with IF >10) directly inform global standards like Braunwald’s Heart Disease and ESC imaging guidelines.

A talent incubator, the department hosts recipients of China’s top honors: National Outstanding Youth Scholars, Changjiang Professors, Ten Thousand Talents Program leaders, and Shanghai’s elite (Shuguang Scholars, Silver Snake Award winners). Its integrated model—bridging clinical innovation, translational research, and specialist training—solidifies its role as Asia’s cardiovascular powerhouse.
