The Department of Health Management Center of Renji Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine is divided into three hospital districts: East, West, and South campus, with a total area of over 6,000 square meters. The center has a highly qualified professional team of more than 50 staff members, including physicians, nurses, technicians, administrative staff, and assistants. Among them, there are 14 physicians with backgrounds in health management and clinical expertise, 3 senior titles, 8 intermediate titles, 2 PhDs and 10 masters. The center is one of the first batch "Health Management Demonstration Bases", one of the 16 "Flagship Units of Health Management Demonstration" , ranked in the top 20 of the Fudan edition of the "Reputation Ranking of Chinese Hospitals" for two consecutive years, ranking fourth in the East China and first in Shanghai. It has been selected as one of the "Competitiveness of Chinese Hospitals - Top 100 Health Management (Medical Checkup) Organizations of Tertiary Hospitals" , awarded the "Discipline Construction Prize" , and has been continuously exempted from inspection by the Shanghai Municipal Health Management Quality Control Unit.
Relying on the strong medical strength of Renji Hospital, the center continues to promote the construction of intelligent health management informationization, improve the content of checkup services, and add new checkup items, including the latest disease-related risk gene test, early tumor screening test, PET-CT and PET-MRI, which provide the possibility of comprehensive and in-depth accurate checkup and early prevention and early intervention of various chronic diseases. The center has set up an offline "Post-checkup Clinic" and an online "Internet Hospital Post-checkup Clinic", which can interpret the checkup reports and formulate follow-up health management plans for the examinees. The multi-department consultation (MDC) clinic invites expert teams from various advantageous disciplines of the hospital to conduct joint consultations and provide one-stop connection to expert treatment for needy examinees. Its high-end checkup and inpatient checkup services can be customized before the checkup, accompanied by a guide throughout the checkup, and refered to Expert Clinics or Special Need Clinics if necessary, so that both service and quality can be achieved. In addition, the center also undertakes various specialized and specific checkups such as tumor screening, gastrointestinal, urinary system, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and other special checkup packages, and will continue to expand its specialized areas.
In recent years, the center's business volume has been steadily increasing, in 2023 with over 130,000 medical checkup clients served, over 3,000 special pre-checkup consultations, nearly 300 emergency medical treatments during checkups, over 10,000 post-checkup clinic visits, and nearly 700 MDC clinic visits. It has directly referred over 3,000 individuals from post-checkup clinics and MDC clinics, including nearly 170 surgeries. Emphasizing both volume and quality, the center has been recognized as an excellent unit in Shanghai's quality control inspections for the years 2021-2023. In terms of discipline construction, in 2023, the center became one of the first co-creation units for health management medical disciplines nationwide, established as a national clinical pharmacology base for new specialties, and hosted the Eighth East China Six Provinces and One City Health Management Forum. Over the past five years, it has won one third prize in the Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Awards, one third prize in the Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Awards, led two national projects, participated in one, led three provincial and ministerial projects, participated in one and won an award, and published 44 research papers, including 32 SCI-indexed papers.
Furthermore, the center is actively developing distinctive sub-specialties. In 2019, it established the "Brain Health and Dementia Research Team," actively conducting brain health population cohort construction and focusing on early prevention and treatment of brain diseases. By the end of 2023, the center had completed over 80,000 brain health screenings and over 6,300 cognitive screenings for elderly community populations. Its research results on a new digital cognitive screening method for Alzheimer's disease have been published in top journals in the field. From 2019 to 2023, it has cooperated with Australia's UNSW-CHeBA (Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing) to hold five Sino-Australian Brain Health and Cognition Forums and national continuing education workshops on "New Progress in Neurocognitive Diseases." It has participated in three international multicenter RCTs for early Alzheimer's disease and established brain health clinics in the East campus and memory disorder clinics in the South campus, providing comprehensive early prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services for high-risk populations, thereby managing brain health throughout the process.
