On December 29, 2017,Department of Liver Surgery in Renji Hospital announces that the number of liver transplantation surgery in 2017 has exceeded 800! Qiang Xia’s team in Department of Liver Surgery has created a highest world record of the annual number of liver transplantation surgery in a single center.

  Up to December 29, 442 cases of pediatric liver transplantation plus 359 cases of adult liver transplantation have been completed to reach an annual number of liver transplantation surgery at more than 800. This is not only an increase of more than 50% over the numberin previous year, but a doubled number of the total cases of liver transplantation in other medical institutions in Shanghai in 2017. To be more importantly, it is now the largest number for the annual number of liver transplantation completed by a single center in the world.

  Qiang Xia's team said that the breakthrough of 800 is due to the hospital's support that the Renji Hospital's brand of liver transplantation attracting more and more patients with liver diseases all over the country and even from foreign countries likes Malaysia. It is also the achievements of the liver transplantation team’s task to work hard for patients.
