In October 2023, Renji Hospital's Nephrology Department was selected as a national flagship department for integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine. The department has developed a unique "TCM + Western Medicine + X" multidisciplinary model. It combines Western medical techniques with TCM's syndrome differentiation and holistic treatment philosophy. By utilizing advanced technologies like analyzing the components of Chinese herbs and applying protein chips and DNA nanotechnology, the team has created new diagnostic and treatment plans for complex kidney diseases. They have also developed intelligent clinical decision - support systems and are conducting multicenter clinical trials to promote the global application of integrated Chinese and Western medicine for kidney disease.
