In this vibrant May, we once again welcome the World Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day on May 19th. The Department of Gastroenterology at Renji Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, has always been committed to helping more IBD patients with care and professionalism. On the occasion of this special day, our hospital's IBD medical team from the Department of Gastroenterology specially invited more than 40 IBD patients to carry out a special free clinic activity for Renji Gastroenterology. We hope to break down information barriers through public welfare activities and help more people.

At the beginning of the activity, Ms. Sun Ying, who is in charge of IBD patient education in the Department of Gastroenterology at Renji Hospital, warmly welcomed the arrival and participation of the IBD patients and introduced the activity process and the Renji experts participating in the patient education this time. They are Chief Physician Shen Jun, Chief Physician Cao Zhijun, Deputy Chief Physician Tong Jinlu, and Deputy Chief Physician Xu Xitao. Before the free clinic began, the Renji experts interacted with the patients on site and took a group photo. The venue was packed with enthusiastic participants. Faced with the usually hard-to-see Renji experts, the patients seemed to have prepared a thousand words.
When the patient education session began, it was as if everyone's emotions had found an outlet and reached a climax directly. Ms. Sun Ying systematically guided the patients to the free clinic experts, who then conducted detailed inquiries and provided answers. Patients in the waiting area also actively shared their experiences with each other and encouraged one another. By the end of the session, each expert had addressed the main complaints of more than 10 patients.
As a very important part of the whole disease management process, the patient's own management and psychological construction are also crucial. Ms. Sun Ying specially invited an IBD patient to share his story. Starting from his own experience and using it as a template, he told everyone that as long as they actively cooperate with the treatment of the attending physician and adjust their mindset, IBD patients can still have a life of freedom. This sharing inspired many people on site.
During the interactive Q&A session, Ms. Sun Ying had collected some of the most concerning issues on site, such as nutrition and fertility, and the four experts on site provided detailed answers and explanations respectively. Finally, Ms. Sun Ying summarized the session and once again reminded the patients to pay attention to themselves and embrace a better life.
With this, the free clinic activity came to a successful end. Every IBD patient who participated in this activity received a carefully prepared "Renai Love Package" from the team, which represents the team's heartfelt message: "Always with you, with love and care!"
