November 24, the world's leading liver transplantation specialists, Professor Nigel Heaton from the UK King's College Hospital and Professor Mureo Kasahara from Japanese National Center for Child Health and Development, came to department of liver surgery in our hospital for academic visit. Vice president of our hospital and director of department of liver surgery, Qiang Xia warmly received the two well-known professors on behalf of the department.

Professor Nigel Heaton is director of department of liver transplantation from UK King's College Hospital, which is European largest liver transplantation center. He is also deputy academic director of departments of liver, kidney, urinary system, gastrointestinal surgery and transplantation of King's College London Health Sciences Centre. Since 1989, he has started his work in liver transplantation, and he has been responsible for liver transplantation programs of the hospital for more than 20 years. He has a wealth of management experience in long-term follow-up of liver transplantation. Professor Mureo Kasahara is director of department of transplantation of Japanese National Center for Child Health and Development, and a member of the Japanese National Commission for Child Transplantation. The hospital is a world-renowned hospital for treatment of incurable diseases of children, Japanese best children's hospital. Professor Kasahara has extensive experience in pediatric living donor liver transplantation, and is the world's leading experts in pediatric liver transplantation.

On the morning of November 24, after watching the pediatric living donor liver transplantation surgery in our hospital, Professor Kasahara made a high praise on the level of liver transplantation surgery in our hospital, and commended the liver transplantation level in our hospital being among the highest in the world. In the afternoon, during the academic exchange meeting, Qiang Xia, vice president of the hospital introduced the current situation of liver transplantations in our hospital and mainland to the two experts on behalf of our hospital. Professor Nigel Heaton and Prof. Kasahara also introduced progress in transplantation of their respective countries. Tripartite participants conducted in-depth exchange on the latest hot topics within the field of international transplantation. After the meeting, led by vice president Qiang Xia, the two professors visited liver surgery ward of the hospital, and had a cordial exchange with postoperative children and their parents. The two professors strongly affirmed achievements of work by liver transplantation team of our hospital, and warmly invited Qiang Xia and his team members to return visit and carry out regular academic exchange activities.

In recent years, department of liver surgery of our hospital actively participate in international academic activities, and have conducted in-depth cooperation exchange with a number of world-renowned transplantation centers in the University of California, Los Angeles, Cleveland and Kaohsiung Medical Center, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. This time, on the occasion of 2000 cases breakthrough of the number of liver transplantations patients in our hospital, the exchange visits of the two top experts as the representatives of the highest levels of liver transplantation in Europe and Japan further enhance the international influence of our hospital in liver transplantation brand.
