Renji Hospital, School of Medicine, University of Ottawa and Ottawa Hospital have signed two cooperation memorandums that Renji Hospital becomes the teaching hospital of School of Medicine, University of Ottawa, and the sister hospitals with Ottawa Hospital. After signing the memorandums, Dr. Jacques Bradwejn, President of School of Medicine, University of Ottawa, Dr. Paul Bragg, Executive vice-President of School of Medicine, University of Ottawa, Dr. Lorne Wiesenfeld, Postgraduate Education vice-President of School of Medicine, University of Ottawa, Dr. Paul Hendry, vice-President of School of Medicine, University of Ottawa, and Wang Yuwei, President Assistant, visited our hospital on May 27. Li Weiping, the President of Renji Hopital, Wen Daxiang, the vice-President of Renji Hopital, Shao Li, the vice-President of School of Clinical Medicine, Yang Yan, the director of the Nursing Department, Zhuang Jie, the director of President's Office and Zhou Mi, the vice-director of President's Office expressed warm welcome to the visiting delegations of University of Ottawa.
The visit brought a new certification progress to the Shanghai - Ottawa Joint Medical School, and also discussed long-term planning on the basis of a joint medical school in China and Canada for further cooperation with President Li Weiping.
Dr. Jacques Bradwejn pointed out that in January 2015 the Shanghai - Ottawa Joint Medical School has already submitted the application of participate in the Canadian medical certification as the overseas branch of University of Ottawa School of Medicine, School of Medicine. School of Medicine, University of Ottawa has communicated with AFMC, Chinese Embassy in Canada, China Health and Family Planning Commission and other government departments. They hope that in October this year with the assistance of the parties, eventually the new international certification model is set for joint medical school as the first international certification of medical schools in the future to attract students from all around the world to join in. Finally, joint medical school will develop an independent international medical school. Meanwhile, on the basis of signing the cooperation agreement of teaching hospitals and sister hospitals, we will improve further bilateral cooperation and exchanges of medical teaching and research, enhance international development progress, also provide high quality clinical teaching environment for the joint medical students.
As a public comprehensive top three hospital and the first batch of bear general medicine standardized training base for the positive response to the family doctor system and the implementation of national policies, Renji Hospital will work with the University of Ottawa Medical School, establish the first general medicine (family doctors) clinic in Shanghai, and according to the requirements of family medicine in Canada, the formation of a well-trained work force in China to launch treatment model has an exemplary role. It also provides students with an international medical education in line with the learning environment, and promote the development of bilateral exchanges and clinical education.
President Li Weiping listened to the grand vision by Dr. Jacques Bradwejn and said Renji Hospital will work together with the University of Ottawa School of Medicine, School of Medicine. We hope that the joint development and promote in education, health care, scientific research in the field, particularly high standards of international conduct of general medicine training program for general medicine (family doctors) will play a crucial role in the promotion of Shanghai and the country. Joint Medical School will also encourage graduate students to enter the general culture system and serve the future of National primary health care business.
