National LiverTransplantation Surgical Demo was Held inRenji

November 21st, sponsored by Chinese Medical Association, Renji Hospital hosted the"planting China" national continuing education program of livertransplantation demonstration center-the second phase ofchildrenliving donor livertransplantation surgical demo successfully held in our hospital. After a five-hoursurgery, the 7-month-old patient from Jiangxi Province who suffered biliaryatresia successfully accepted his mother’s partial liver. The surgicalteam, consisted of medical staffs from department of liversurgery,operating room, anesthesia and clinical medical school, abandoned their rest time and pulled together to presentaperfectsurgery to colleagues nationwide.

"Planting China "pediatric liver transplantation demonstration is one part of the series ofnational educational demonstration center programorganized byChinese Medical Association. ChineseMedical Association has set up liver transplantationdemonstration centers since 2015. The association is dedicated to promote the standardization oflivertransplantation and culture personnel as well. Currently, the program is formed by four transplantation centers, including Renji Hospital affiliated to School of Medicine Shanghai Jiaotong University, First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Medical University, Tianjin First Central Hospitaland the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Zhongshan University. The four centers regularly carry outcontinuing educationactivitiesof liver transplantation.

Following the big success of last livertransplantation surgical demoheldin our hospital in the first half of this year, the current demoattracted 29 technical personnel from many top transplantation centers in Southern China, including the firstand third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Zhongshan University, Wuhan Tongji Hospital, HunanXiangya hospital. The medical personnel of transplantation,anesthesia,and nursingcarefrom these centers carefully watched the surgical demo andlistened to the pre and postoperative management experience reported by our pediatric livertransplantationandmonitoring team.

The participants had a comprehensiveunderstanding of thestandardizedmanagement processes of our pediatric livertransplantationcenter, and had in-depthdiscussion and exchange with our staffs for the relatedissues. ChineseMedical Associationexpects that the successof this eventwould help promotenationalpediatric livertransplantation program, standardized the treatmentprocessof pediatricend-stageliver disease,and eventually make effective treatments accessible to morechildren sufferingend-stageliver diseasein this country.
