22nd May, aftertwo years preparation, Renji Hospital and the University of New South Wales(UNSW) Australia signed the agreement at Renji hospital Shanghai by thepresident of the hospital professor Li weiping and the authorizedrepresentative of UNSWDr. Reema Harrison. Based on the agreement, the twoparties are going to work closely to organize tailored International HospitalManagement Training Program (IHMTP) together. The signing ceremony is under thewitness of Mr. Richard Coote, Deputy Consul-General of Australian ConsulateGeneral in Shanghai and Senior Trade Commissioner and National Manager forChina of Australian Trade and Investment Commission; Mr. Rhett Miller, Consul(Education) of Australian Consulate General in Shanghai; and Ms. Rachel Wei,Head of UNSW Representative Office in China. Ms. Molly Liu, Education Manager ofAustralian Consulate General in Shanghai and Mr. Andrew Zhu, Senior BusinessDevelopment Manager of Australian Consulate General in Shanghai also attendedthe ceremony. The vice president of the hospital professor Wen Daxiang, vicepresident professor Li jin, deputy of the presidents’ office Ms. Zhou Mi,director of the exchange and collaboration office Mr. Wang Chun ming, and thecandidates of the IHMTP this year attended ceremony.

Deputy Consul-General ofAustralian Consulate General in Shanghai Mr. Richard Coote made a speech duringthe signing ceremony, mentioned that he was very glad to see that RenjiHospital, as a public tertiary general hospital, had a great vision inglobalization and had put great effort in international collaboration with partnersfrom Australia, USA, European and etc., especially in the collaboration betweenRenji Hospital and UNSW in not only co-research but a tailored IHMTP. As partof the Torch Project launched by University of New South Wales (UNSW) andMinistry of Science and Technology China, IHMTP is going to support thehospital managers and clinicians from China to be training internationally atone of the top universities in Australia and with better global vision.

President Li extended awarm welcome to the guests. He said that Renji Hospital, located in theinternational metropolis Shanghai, has paid more attention to the internationalcooperation and exchanges with first-class of overseas medical schools andmedical institutions in recent years. During the "12th Five-YearPlan" period, the hospital had every year invested a lot of budgets forthe internationalization of talents, and sent large-scale of young andmiddle-aged doctors, nurses and scientific researchers to study and exchange internationally.In the "13th Five-Year Plan" period (2016-2020), the hospital willstand on a higher level in internationalization development such as launchingshort-term management training programs (IHMTP) collaborated with UNSW, tocreate a management team with global vision and international managementconcept.

The first delegation with 20candidates selected from over 100 applications is going to departure on 3rdJune this year for 3 week training at main campus of UNSW Sydney Australia,including health systems, leadership, quality improvement, patient safety, riskmanagement, infection control, occupational health and safety, professionaldevelopment and accreditation etc. The delegation also has the chance to do theshadowing program in some of the hospitals both public and private to betterunderstand the health systems of Australia and share experience so as tobroaden international scope, learn latest technology and procedures inmanagement to further improve the level of management for Renji Hospital.
