Infection Department of Renji Hospital was established in November 2004, and the ward building was completed on January 5, 2022. It is an independent building with 5 floors above ground and 1 floor below ground, with a total floor area of 5,000 square meters. After the baptism of the new crown epidemic, the infection departmentof Renji Hospital has gradually grown into the backbone of infection prevention and control, and has established a medical team and talent echelon, with one chief physician, two deputy chief physicians, one associate researcher, two master's degree supervisors, four attending physicians and five residents. Adhering to the development concept of "cultivating benevolence, seeking truth, innovating and enterprising", the department has gradually formed the clinical characteristics of immunocompromised infections, and has rich experience in critical infections such as multi-drug-resistant bacterial infections, infections of intestinal origin, and complex lung infections. As a model infectious disease treatment center in Pudong New Area, there are 10 negative-pressure isolation wards equipped with ventilators, high-flow oxygen suction devices, fiberoptic bronchoscopes, blood purification equipment, ECMO and aortic balloon counterpulsation devices, and other medical equipment to satisfy the treatment of critically ill patients. The fever clinic is located on the 1st floor of the Infection Building, with 3 independent consulting rooms, separate registration, testing, CT examination and pharmacy configuration, providing one-stop service for fever patients. The Department of Infectious Diseases has set up the microecology diagnostic and treatment center to standardize the treatment of refractory Clostridium difficile infections with intestinal bacterial transplantation and carry out clinical research on refractory diarrhea, constipation, radiation enteritis, malnutrition and hepatic encephalopathy.
