“The Tenth Chinese Conference of Minimally Invasive Therapy in Oncology and the First Scientific Meeting of Asia-Pacific Association of Imaging-guided Therapy in Oncology” was held .
With the advancement of modern medical imaging, and the rapid development of imaging-guided minimally invasive interventional therapy technology and biological immunotherapy, unprecedented revolutionary changes have taken place in the concepts of tumor therapy. Previous “destructive therapy” oriented mode has gradually shifted to the “constructive tumor therapy” paradigm in which the combination therapy with the minimally invasive therapy and biological immunotherapy at the core is expected to become important development direction of tumor therapy in the future.
November 6 to 8, jointly organized by professional members from Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine Affiliated Renji Hospital, Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen University Affiliated Tumor Hospital, Fudan University Tumor Hospital and the Committee of Minimally Invasive Therapy in Oncology of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, and exclusively contracted by Renji Hospital upon its 170 anniversary of establishment, “The Tenth Chinese Conference of Minimally Invasive Therapy in Oncology and the First Scientific Meeting of Asia-Pacific Association of Imaging-guided Therapy in Oncology” was held in Shanghai. The conference promoted new ideas of minimally invasive therapy and combination tumor therapy, gathered domestic and foreign colleagues in a joint, and promoted a “constructive tumor therapy mode” characterized by minimally invasiveness, individualized, humanness and rationality.
Chairman of Professional Committee of Minimally Invasive Tumor therapy of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, Professor Shen Baozhong, the Secretary-General Professor Wang Ying, Co-Chairs of the Asia-Pacific Imaging-guided Invasive Therapy of Tumor Association Professor Wu Peihong and Professor Yu Junhao, and more than 230 international and domestic well-known experts attended the event, including more than 20 well-known scholars and experts from the United States, Japan, Italy, Korea, China's Hong Kong and Taiwan. The attending representatives and the guests reached more than 400 people. The conference was assembled unprecedented, involving various fields in minimally invasive tumor therapy. More than 230 exports of minimally invasive tumor therapy from home and abroad gave wonderful academic reports, and performed various forms of academic exchanges.
President of the conference, Dean of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine Affliliated Renji Hospital, Professor Li Weiping made keynote speech “Pass with the future, create brilliant career of minimally invasive tumor therapy” on behalf of Renji Hospital. Professor Zhai Bo, Executive Chairman of the conference welcomed the well-known experts and professors from the Asia-Pacific region to attend this event on behalf of the organizers, and hoped that the experts would present the latest concepts and results of the tumor therapy, so as to promote
The conference mainly involved imaging-guided minimally invasive technology in tumor, ablation tumor therapy (including RF, microwave, laser, freezing, HIFU and irreversible electroporation, etc.), tumor particles implantation therapy, minimally invasive surgical tumor therapy, tumor-related endoscopic tumor therapy, vascular and non-vascular interventional tumor therapy, pain therapy in tumor, biological immunotherapy and molecular targeted tumor therapy, minimally invasive endoscopic tumor therapy, emergency technologies in tumor therapy and medical care of minimally invasive tumor therapy and others. The conference reached a consensus, and laid a foundation for the unity of the scope of application, approach and methods of the minimally invasive therapy combined with combination therapy, and reasonable choice of various new technologies in the minimally invasive tumor therapy for different medical institutions and practitioners. The conference hoped to deep the super-microinvasive methods, interventional tumor therapy, into all areas of tumor therapy, benefit more tumor patients, prolong the life of patients and improve quality of life, reduce the social burden, which is also engaged in the voices of each medical workers of interventional tumor therapy.
According to Professor Zhai Bo, director of Interventional oncology in our hospital, in the past, tumor was mainly treated with surgery, chemotherapy, etc, which induced a large area of damaging. Now the medical professions increasingly recognized that, based on the maximum degree of protection and respect for the patient, constructive tumor therapy will gradually assume an important role in future. For example, the early small HCC were mainly surgically excised in the past. Now using the minimally invasive ablation therapy combined with the immunotherapy, the two methods basically had similar survival prognosis. Another example is the current high incidence of thyroid tumor. 80% of thyroid tumors were benign. However all of them were cut in the past, and the surgery left patients a great trauma. Zhai Bo said that the ablation therapy, just using a "needle" into the body to inactivate, could be completed within half an hour. Zhai Bo said that today’s medicine has advanced out of the simple efficacy-pursuit stage, but turned more attention to the social function, immune function and quality of life. Therefore, less invasive or non-invasive tumor therapy will eventually replace the original daiso and giant invasive therapy.
The conference is to promote new ideas of minimally invasive therapy combined with combination tumor therapy. Domestic and foreign colleagues gathered jointly to promote a “constructive tumor therapy mode” characterized by minimally invasiveness, individualized, humanness and rationality. The atmosphere of the conference was very warm, while imbued with festival of the 170 anniversary of establishment of Renji Hospital, so that the experts and guests at the same time felt the long history and culture of Renji Hospital.
