To Further Develop International Talent Training Collaboration

 

 

The President and Vice-­Chancellor of the University of New South Wales Australia (UNSW) Professor Ian Jacobs visited Renji Hospital on 30th September, together with Ms Shahina Mohamed (Operations Director/International & External Liaison, Office of the President & Vice-Chancellor), Mr Laurie Pearcey (Director of International Strategy in Greater China & India), Associate Professor Xi Junfang (Chinese Director, Confucius Institute at UNSW), and Ms Rachel Wei (China Country Manager of UNSW). The President of Renji Hospital Professor Li Weiping and vice president Professor Wen Daxiang warmly welcomed the delegation at the East Campus of Renji hospital (headquarter). Shared with the same medical specialties in Gynecology as professor, both the presidents happily discussed the potential possibilities about close cooperation between the university and the hospital upon international health care, academic health research and muti-center medical education. The delegation also had a tour together with the vice president Professor Wen Daxiang at the outpatient building, day surgery center and the medical wards as well.

Professor Ian Jacobs commended the abilities of Renji hospital on clinical operation, research and medical education and showed the expectation of the collaboration in the future. Professor Li Weiping also expressed the wish to further cooperation with UNSW in many possible fields in accord with the international development demands of the hospital as well as the city of Shanghai.

UNSW was found in 1949, ranked 48th in QS ranking 2014-2015 that reached to the Top50 Universities around the world. As the member of Group Eight Top universities in Australia, UNSW is also one of the excellent universities in Australia with large amount of international students.

Professor Ian Jacobs is the President and Vice-­Chancellor of UNSW Australia since February 2015, with a distinguished career in UK as a leading researcher in the area of women’s health and cancer and in university leadership. Professor Jacobs is the Principal Investigator for the Cancer Research UK and Eve Appeal funded PROMISE (Prediction of Risk of Ovarian Malignancy Screening and Early Detection). He has an H-­Index of 64 and has published more than 200 scientific papers with over 15,000 citations including 8,000 in the last 5 years.(Reporter Chunming WANG)
