Department of Breast Surgery in Shanghai Renji Hospital, affiliated to School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is a comprehensive breast health center focused on integrated clinical practice, education, and research. Our surgeons are expert at image-guided biopsy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, breast-conserving surgery, traditional modified radical mastectomy and breast reconstruction. Initiative high-quality image-guided mass positioning, such as MRI-guided mass positioning, are available in our center to provide precise early detection and resection of the breast mass for patients with the help of the most advanced, innovative equipment and technique.
Teamwork. Our multidisciplinary treatment (MDT) team, based on more than fifty top-level departments in Renji Hospital, recruits experts and specialists in breast imaging, pathology, radiotherapy, medical oncology and surgery to provide accurate diagnosis and precise treatment for even the most complicated cases. Thus our patients can also receive scientific and effective treatment conveniently, even with the comorbidity of breast cancer and other critical illnesses such as lung cancer, bone fracture or chronic kidney disease.
Experience. Besides surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, endocrine therapy, biological therapy and other therapy have been widely used in our center. Subsequently, we have always kept a low breast cancer recurrence and mortality rate ever since the establishment of our center. As one of the leading highlights in our center, the unique neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimen has helped hundreds of patients with initially inoperable and high-risk tumors to downstage before surgery, and meanwhile their prognosis has been improved splendidly. It was as high as 64.7% that pathological complete response (pCR) rate of triple negative breast cancer had reached after our neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimen.
Innovation. Several breast cancer clinical trials are being conducted in our center, which makes our patients accessible to advanced investigational diagnostic and treatment options. Doctors as well as researchers are committed to innovation, thereby improving survival outcomes and quality of life for breast cancer patients. One piece of our academic views was cited by NCCN Guidelines for breast cancer. It was the first paper that was quoted by NCCN Guidelines for breast cancer.
