Department of Medical Ultrasonic of Renji Hospital Affiliated of School of medicine of Shanghai Jiaotong University is the national key clinical specialty, Shanghai key discipline, training center for master's and doctoral students, medical device clinical experiment institution, and National residency standardized training (ultrasound specialty) base. There are 39 physicians, including 4 chief physicians, 10 deputy chief physicians, 1 doctoral supervisor and 4 master's supervisors, 86% of the physicians in the department have postgraduate degrees (28% Ph.D., 58% M.D.).

Professor Lixin Jiang, the director of the department, is currently a member of the Ultrasound Medicine Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association and the head of the interventional group, the chairman-designate of the Ultrasound Branch of the Shanghai Society of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, the vice-chairman and director of the Chinese Society of Ultrasound Medical Engineering, the deputy chairman of the First and Second Tumor Ultrasound Therapy Special Committees of the China Anti Cancer Association, the third vice president of the Ultrasound Equipment Technology Branch of the China Medical Equipment Association, and the deputy leader of the Ultrasound Therapy Group of the Ultrasound Medicine Expert Committee of the National Energy Construction Center.

The Medical Ultrasonic department is well-equipped with medical ultrasound equipment, with more than 20 high-end color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic machines. The strength of Medical Ultrasonic department is enormous, and currently, ultrasound diagnosis and interventional treatment are on the leading domestic level. The annual amount of examination is more than 1000,000 cases, while the number of ultrasound puncture about angiography and interventional ultrasound-guided is more than 6,000 cases. The checking contents include abdominal organs, small superficial organs, blood vessels, muscles and bone, andrology, heart, interventional ultrasound, etc., which meet the clinical needs and maximize service to the patient. The sub disciplinary grouping and research directions of the department are complete, including: ① male infertility and ultrasound diagnosis of the urogenital system; ② Ultrasound monitoring and evaluation during the perioperative period of liver and kidney transplantation; ③ Gastrointestinal ultrasound diagnosis; ④ Ultrasound diagnosis of muscle bone and nerve; ⑤ Ultrasound diagnosis of endocrine and metabolic diseases; ⑥ Ultrasound diagnosis of heart disease; ⑦ Clinical disease contrast-enhanced ultrasound; ⑧ Interventional ultrasound diagnosis and treatment; ⑨ Ultrasound diagnosis of thyroid and superficial organs of the breast; ⑩ Pediatric ultrasound diagnosis etc., has laid a solid foundation for the sustained development of the discipline, especially the specialized characteristics of male infertility ultrasound diagnosis, which has a significant influence both internationally and domestically.  

 In the recent years, under the leadership of Professor Fenghua Li and Professor Lixin Jiang, the head of the department, the department has followed the frontier of the development of the discipline and has carried out a number of works and achieved a number of results: participated in many international academic conferences exchanges (AFSUMB, RSNA, ECR), won multiple talent program projects such as Excellent Academic Leader, Top of the Oriental Talent Program, Medical New Star and Rising Star Sailing, etc. Our department has undertaken 13 National Natural Science Foundation projects and more than 30 provincial-level/bureau level scientific research projects, and published more than 200 papers including SCI papers and papers in Chinese core journals. The chief editor of one monograph, "Ultrasound Dynamic Atlas of Male Infertility", which was reprinted in 2021; Editor-in-chief of the monograph "Fetal Echocardiography" 1; More than 20 monographs as deputy editor; Participated in the compilation of medical undergraduate course textbook "Medical Imaging Diagnostics ". We have won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, the third prize of Shanghai Medical Technology Award, and the third prize of Huaxia Medical Technology Award.
